Admissions
Thank you for your interest in the Medical Degree Program offered by the International University of the Health Sciences, School of Medicine.

A solid foundation in the basic biomedical sciences is essential for those who wish to complete successfully the 4 year IUHS School of Medicine program, pass the necessary national licensing examinations and become competent medical practitioners.

Successful applicants to the IUHS School of Medicine will have demonstrated high scholastic achievement, intellectual potential, motivation, and humanistic concern - all traits which will be necessary for success as a medical doctor.

An applicant's academic abilities and desirable personal qualities are evaluated by the IUHS Admissions Committee using a combination of the following:
  • Undergraduate and Graduate courses, grades and degrees
  • Recommendations from Professors and Medical Doctors under whom he or she has studied or worked
  • A personal interview with an IUHS representative
  • Applicant's personal statement (short essay)
  • MCAT scores (not required but recommended)
  • Practical work experience in the healthcare field
  • A fully completed IUHS application form

Entrance Criteria
For Acceptance to the School of Medicine, each applicant should have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (or equivalent) and for most students this will require 3-4 years of preparation in attendance at a University or College and normally equals 90 to 120 semester or credit hours at the University/ College level.

These hours should include:
1 year of Physics with Laboratory
1 year of General Chemistry with Laboratory
1 year of Organic Chemistry with Laboratory
1 year of General Biology with Laboratory
1 semester of College level Mathematics/Calculus

Additionally a Biochemistry course is recommended. Courses in Microbiology, Cellular Physiology, Genetics, Embryology while not required, are useful in providing some of the essential skills and knowledge required for Medical Education and assisting the Admissions Committee in assessing a candidates readiness to study medicine.
